Spent a few more hours today on this painting. Layered glazes give the rocks an awsome color and feel. It is really hard to keep going at this point... It is so hard for me to bring areas to a "finish" while keeping the freshness of the initial painting stages. Whenever I get to this stage I have the overwhelming urge to just gesso the whole thing and start over. Since I have already done it once with this canvas I am really trying to stick with it a few more hours and solve the "problems" that are growing in my mind.

Well, more work to do, but I will go back to separate paintings tomorrow.

Chapel Falls

No small painting today - I spent several hours roughing in this large canvas. It is quite a change to switch back to working on a large scale... its a lot of work!

Backyard Trees

It is about 90 degrees outside today but it feels like 108. My daughter and I decided to brave the elements and dip our feet in her plastic wading pool while I painted. Despite the heat and dodging my daughter's splashes it was fun to get outside to work.

Walk

Went on a walk with the fam this evening. It has finished raining and I was struck by the brilliant patterns of lawn and pavement in the damp air.
