Only YOU can prevent forest fires...

I really dislike the bottom left shape. Funky tree shapes too. Looks like an add for the national forest service. Still, I like the general feel... needs more planning next time.

I really like where this is going. I need to do some revisions but I am done for the night... continued tomorrow

Houghton Lake Flats

This is a more developed view of the Houghton Lake Flats area. This flooded marsh serves as a wildlife habitat. My mom is inlcuding this painting in a basket to auction at a Relay for Life event in HL.

Marshes

This painting combined elements of the studies from earlier in the week. The sky has the clarity and vastness that I am looking for.

Rocks

Another small rock painting. I have been using the knife and glazing techniques to determine textures.

Blue

This is a study primarily of blues and distance. My biggest problem the last few days has been photographing my artwork. I have a cheap point and shoot digital camera and a rickety tripod. My method is basically shoot the picture outside (it has been cloudy which is good I find) and inside a few times and try to choose the best. Photoshop helps a little but I am never happy with the results. Need to figure out a solution...

Pictured Rocks series

4x6"

Part of my ongoing series from the Pictured Rocks. My family just went on another trip to Munising a few weeks ago. My brother and I took the boat tour which was amazing. I didn't do much painting but it was great to soak it all in again.
